This one time, Shaan was at a smoky-brothel-turned bar in Vienna's 6th district when he decided to take a break from the dancefloor boogie and revist the subject often pondered during his year living in Europe: "What to do when I grow up?" Specifically, "What to do with my recent Masters in Environmental Management that doesn't involve working with bureaucrats or certain souldeath." As fate would have it, the editor of a Viennese fashion magazine was sitting next to him pondering: "Who can I get to write a feature on haircuts?" Being a big believer in fate, Shaan convinced the editor and himself that he was the man for the job. Upon his return to America several months later, Shaan began writing bar and restaurant reviews for TODOMonthly and later became an assistant editor at Thrillist.com. He currently pays his rent as a freelance writer, copywriter and web editor in San Francisco. Shaan's name, an eyebrow-raiser in America, is wildly popular in India where it was the namesake of a 1980 Bollywood blockbuster he has yet to see.
